Country Walks.

Our February walk was a special occasion as one of our regular walkers Allan McCrone was celebrating his 90th birthday.

Allan walks most days and is a great example of the benefit of regular exercise.

Some members of Allan’s family from London joined the walk as part of the family’s weekend of celebrations

Our route was much changed due to the very wet weather with most field paths flooded but we managed 6 ‘drier ’miles following the Lindsey Trial in Willingham Woods at Market Rasen.

The weather was kind to us as the rain held off until the final quarter mile back to the car park.

Our March walk was again changed because of ground conditions so we opted for 6 miles from Southery on the National cycle track alongside the river Witham

The track provides great views across the countryside as well as interesting information boards and sculptures.

In April we did a favoured walk in Woodall Spa where the good ground conditions are reliable.

The walk starts from Jubilee Park where the  outdoor heated swimming pool was full of people doing an exercise regime under the watchful eye of a trainer and then took us through surrounding fields and woodland.Towards the end of the walk we picked up the Viking Way taking us across the championship golf course.

Next walk is 2nd May.

A 5 mile circular walk from Donington on Bain across the surrounding Wold edge returning along the Bain valley.

Walkers should meet at the village hall at 9-30am and are advised to wear a waterproof coat and suitable footwear and bring a drink and a snack.

Everyone is welcome to join the walk.
