Minutes of the meeting of Sudbrooke parish council held at 7.30pm on Thursday 4th June 2026 in the Bramham lounge, Sudbrooke village hall.

 

Present; Cllr P Heath, Cllr B Dowell, Cllr P Fido, Cllr M Alford

 

  1. To note apologies and reasons given.

  1. To receive any declarations of interest in accordance with the localism Act 2011 and consider any 

requests for dispensation in relating to disposable pecuniary interests of the other interests as 

outlined in the council's code of conduct

  1. To receive the notes of the council meeting held on the 07th of May  2026 and agree for them to be 

signed as a true record. 

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the minutes from the 07th of May 2026 and agree for them to be 

signed as a true record.

  1.  To receive any reports from outside bodies, including the Police, District and County Councillors (if any) and agreed actions as required. 

        District Councillor was. It in attendance. County Councillor Jane Smith, explained and supported th 

        PC frustrations on the lack of intervention on safety of the A158 following two large accidents the 

        weekend prior to the meeting. The PC have no power to initiate any action but will be happy to 

        support residents with there concerned. A large discussion took place regarding speed radars which 

        the PC have the power to implement.

  1. To approve the cost of £600 contribution towards a Defibrillator for the Village Hall.

        RESOLVED unanimously to approve the the contribution of £600 from WLDC to install a defibrillator 

  1. To discuss and resolve the cost of felling a dangerous tree.

        RESOLVED unanimously;say to approve the removal of the split tree for the cost of up to £1000

  1. To receive a report from the gardening group. 

        nothing new to report at this time.

        RESOLVED unanimously to approve the purchase of plants for the sum of up to £100

  1. Report on matters ongoing matters:-

  1. Dog bin – West Drive – update

        The Clerk sent correspondence to the neighboroughing properties, awaiting responses. 

  1. Grit bin

        Cllr B Dowell to chase LCC Highways

  1. Stuart Curtis Field, & Dog friendly areas.

        Cllr P Fido and Cllr M Alford to meet with contractor Ian Moore to discuss a plan and a quote to make 

        progress on the area.

  1. Container

        Cllr P Heath will chase the scouts on there progress, football goals are due to be installed in the 

        coming weeks.

  1. Fencing Quote (Village Hall)

    Cllr M Alford to obtain a component list of items required, to enable the PC to repair the broken fence at the     village hall.

  1. To discuss and approve any necessary action regarding Sudbrooke News.

    1. Approve the subscription of Canva.

        RESOLVED unanimously to approve the purchase of a annual Canva subscription, to enable a good 

        editing package to produce the Sudbrooke`News.

  1. Approve any necessary action regarding printing of the magazine.

        RESOLVED unanimously to stay with Parish Printing, following obtaining comparison quotes

  1. To discuss and approve any necessary action regarding Noticeboards.

    1. Relocation of noticeboard on the A158

    RESOLVED unanimously to approve the relocation to Northfield Park.

  1. To approve the purchase of a new noticeboard at the Village Shop

    RESOLVED unanimously to approve the purchase of a new notice board for the cost of up to £1000, 

    Greenbarns quote was approved

  1. To discuss and approve any necessary action regarding the village map board.

    RESOLVED unanimously due to the notice board rotting and the village map being outdated, it would be 

    taken down and not replaced at this time

  1. Finance & Governance matters

  1. To resolve to accept the Receipts and Payments since the May 2026 meeting.

RESOLVED unanimously to approve the receipts and payments for the month of June 2026

  1. Amenities Report

  1. To discuss and approve any necessary action regarding a proposed Family fun day.

    The event is due to take place 

on Saturday the 4th July 2026

  1. To discuss and resolve any necessary action regarding benches

    RESOLVED unanimously to remove the bench at Millennium Stone, due to its determination.

  1. Planning matters

    1. Update from WLDC regarding the neighbourhood plan.

        RESOLVED, the Clerk to chase. Request an update.

  1. To approve the signing of the Deed of Variation - Land off Poachers Lane Sudbrooke - WL/2026/00093 - 76729 

        RESOLVED unanimously, no objection

  1. Application Number: WL/2026/00465 Valid Date: 19/05/2026 Proposal: Planning application for extension and alterations to existing dwelling.

RESOLVED unanimously to reply with an objection

  1. To discuss and approve any Co-option applications.
